ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team returned to the diamond this past Friday for its first three-game fall ball series at Bob Wren Stadium. At the end of the three-game series, Team Bobcats took a 2-1 series win over Team Ohio.
Team Ohio took the opener by a count of 10-5, but Team Bobcats responded by claiming games two and three of the series, posting 14-3 and 12-11 victories.
In the opener on Friday, Junior Jake Madsen and senior Kyle Dean posted a pair of hits and tallied three RBI to lead Team Ohio. Freshman Mitch Longo also chipped in as he went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. He also had a pair of stolen bases. Newcomer Gerry Salisbury earned the win, while Nick Plys suffered the loss.
In game two, Team Bobcats got three hit performances from sophomore Nick Squires, junior Garrett Black and freshman Nick Bredeson. Scott White chipped in with a pair of hits, including a triple. Junior Tyler Wells also pitched in as he drilled a three-run home run.

In the series finale on Sunday, freshman Tyree Burch and junior Taylor Emody each posted a three hits apiece. Freshman Tyler Finkler secured the win for Team Bobcats as he hit a walk off bases loaded double off of junior pitcher Logan Cozart.
Ohio baseball resumes its Fall Ball series on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium. Game two will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The finale will begin at 4:30 p.m. Admission to the Fall Ball series at Bob Wren Stadium is free to the public.
