ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team took part in its second three-game fall ball series this past weekend at Bob Wren Stadium. At the end of the three-game set, Team Ohio picked up a 2-1 series victory over Team Bobcats.
Team Bobcats edged Team Ohio in the series opener, defeating Team Ohio 4-3. Team Ohio responded in the final two games as it downed Team Bobcats 3-2 (game two) and 11-3 (game three).
Game one saw Team Bobcat freshman Jake Roehn pick up his second win of fall ball, defeating sophomore Jake Miller. Newcomer Jeremy Cronk came in to pick up the save. Offensively, junior Jake Madsen drilled a two-run home run in the first inning for Team Ohio. Madsen's round-tripper came after a 10-pitch at bat.
Junior Tyler Wells continued to swing a hot bat during fall ball as he went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI for Team Bobcats. Wells drilled a three-run home run in the game last weekend. Senior Taylor Emody also chipped in for Team Bobcats as he went 2-for-3 with a double.
Team Ohio evened the series at one game apiece in game two. Sophomore John Adryan and newcomer Anthony Winters led the way offensively for Team Ohio. Adryan went 1-for-2 with a double, while Winters was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored.
Newcomer Jake Rudnicki earned the win for Team Ohio and junior Logan Cozart came on in the seventh inning to pick up the save.
In the series finale on Sunday, Team Ohio scored six runs in the sixth inning to claim the second series fall ball. Junior Brice Nikisther and Madsen both smacked home runs to highlight the scoring for Team Ohio.
Newcomer Cory Blessing paced Team Ohio on the mound as he tallied the win.
The Ohio baseball team begins a three-game series at Bob Wren Stadium on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Game two is set to begin at 6 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
