ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team held its third fall ball series this past weekend at Bob Wren Stadium. Team Bobcats took the first two over Team Ohio before the two teams tied in the final game of the series.
Team Bobcats dominated offensively in this series - outscoring Team Ohio 23-8 - with an 8-5 victory in game one and an impressive 13-1 victory in game two. In the finale, the two teams played to a 2-2 draw.
Freshman pitcher Jake Roehn made his third appearance on the mound for Team Bobcats, allowing just two hits on four runs. Offensively, junior Brice Nikisther led the squad with three RBI on two hits and was hit-by-a-pitch.
Junior Tyler Wells continued his fall practice hot streak in game one with two hits and an RBI for Team Ohio, while newcomer Mitch Longo went 2-for-4 with a triple.
Game two belonged entirely to Team Bobcats as freshmen Jake Rudnicki and Matt Mikolajczak combine to pitch 7.0 innings allowing just seven hits.
Senior Taylor Emody and Brice Nikisther led the team offensively with three RBI and two hits apiece. Senior Garrett Black went 3-for-4 with three runs and a double, while Cody Gaertner and Cody White each collected two hits, ensuring the victory for Team Bobcats.
Senior Sean Kennedy helped Team Ohio rebound from game two with a solid pitching performance in the series finale, scattering six hits over 5.0 innings, allowing one run and no walks.
Team Bobcats' Garrett Black tacked on two more hits in the final game, as he finished the weekend by going 7-for-10 at the plate.
The team returns to Bob Wren Friday, Sept. 27 for a three-game series beginning at 6:30 p.m. Games two and three are both set to begin at 1 p.m.
