ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team played host to the first annual WrenFest Scrimmage Wednesday evening inside Bob Wren Stadium in front of over 700 fans.
In the Bobcats' first public scrimmage under the direction of first-year head coach Rob Smith, Ohio combined to score 12 runs with the Green squad defeating the Gray squad 10-2 in six innings of play.
Junior first baseman Taylor Emody (Milan, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats offensively as he went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Fellow junior Scott White (Springboro, Ohio) also chipped in offensively as he went 3-for-5 with three singles.
Ohio's pitching staff also showed some strong signs as freshman right-hander Jake Miller (Westerville, Ohio) worked two innings, allowing just two hits. In addition, senior right-hander Brett Barber (Hurricane, W. Va.) picked up right where he left off from a year ago as he pitched a scoreless third inning after he threw just four pitches.
Those in attendance were treated to free food from Abrio's and Kiser's. There were also free haircuts, manicures and pedicures courtesy of Station Street Hair Design. Ohio men's basketball head coach Jim Christian threw out the first pitch to get the evening started.
