ATHENS, Ohio -The Ohio baseball team's 2008 schedule has been released by Head Coach Joe Carbone and the coaching staff.

The Bobcats will play host to Purdue, Cincinnati, Xavier, Duquesne, Marshall and Pittsburgh among others during the non-conference portion of their schedule. The schedule also includes road games against Memphis, West Virginia, Dayton, UNC-Greensboro, Charleston Southern, Duquesne, Youngstown State and Marshall in out-of-conference action.

The four-game series against Purdue (March 13-16) marks Ohio's fifth series with a Big Ten Conference opponent in the last 10 years and its fourth home-series against a Big Ten foe. Over that span the Bobcats have a record of 7-8 against the Big Ten. Michigan was the last Big Ten member to play Ohio during the 2005 season, when the Wolverines won all three games of the series at Bob Wren Stadium. Ohio combined to go 5-3 against Michigan State in 2003 and 2001 when the Spartans traveled to Athens and in 1998 the Bobcats split a four-game series at Michigan State.

Another notable match-up is Ohio's game with Pittsburgh March 15. After traveling to Pittsburgh and defeating the Panthers 9-7 last season, the Bobcats will play host to the Panthers this year. Ohio and Pittsburgh have played each of the last five seasons, with Pittsburgh holding a 3-2 advantage over the Bobcats during that span.

Ohio's first six games of the season will be on the road, as the Bobcats play at Charleston Southern for a three-game series (Feb. 22-24) to begin their 2008 campaign and then travel to Memphis to take on the Tigers in a three-game series (Feb. 29-March 2).

The home opener at Bob Wren Stadium will be against Ohio Wesleyan, March 4, followed the next day by a home game versus Rio Grande.

Ohio begins conference play with a road series against Central Michigan on March 22-24, before taking on Cincinnati at V. A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio, March 26.

Some important conference dates include a home series with defending MAC West Division champion Eastern Michigan, who comes to Bob Wren Stadium April 11-13 and a home date with rival Miami in Ohio's final home series of the year May 9-11.

The Ohio baseball team plays its annual Green & White Series Oct. 20-21. The Bobcats will play a double-header on Saturday, Oct. 20 beginning at 1 p.m. and will complete the three-game intra-squad series on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Prior to the final game of the series there will be a "Scout Day" starting at 1 p.m., which will feature the 60 yard dash, followed by batting practice and infield.
