ATHENS, Ohio -

Ohio Baseball Winter Showcase Camps Brochure

The Ohio baseball program will be hosting two winter showcase camps, with the hitting camp set for Saturday, Dec. 20, while the pitching camp will be held the following day on Dec. 21. The camps are open to high school student-athletes in grades 9-12, with both camps set to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The hitting camp will focus on fundamentals such as stance, load, stride and swing, as well as discuss the mental aspect of hitting. Video analysis will be used to look at each individual's strengths and weaknesses and allow them to improve their hitting. Campers will also get to take batting practice off of fastball and curveball machines.

The hitting camp will take place in the state-of-the-art, heated indoor baseball facility (indoor batting cages), which is located behind the right-center field wall of Bob Wren Stadium. Only 32 players are allowed to register, so don't delay.

The pitching camp will feature instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, including the proper mechanics of the pitching motion and grips and techniques for throwing a fastball, curveball and changeup. Video analysis will also be used at the pitching camp to break down each individual's mechanics. Drills will be taught and conducted for each camper to take with them for future practice.

The pitching camp will be held at Ohio Athletics' indoor facility, located on South Green Drive, next to the Ping Student Recreational Center and outdoor tennis courts. Space is limited to only 50 players for the pitching camp, so again don't delay.

The showcase camps will be run and instructed by Ohio's coaching staff and current players, including head coach Joe Carbone, who is in his 21st season at the helm of the Bobcats and also played at Ohio. Assistant coaches Scott Malinowski and Andrew See, also both former Bobcat standouts, will assist with instruction and training, as well.

The cost of each camp is $200.00 and includes an Ohio baseball t-shirt and lunch. On the day of the camp, check-in will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the site of the camp.
