Ohio Baseball Concludes Fall Ball Practice

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team concluded fall practice this past week under the direction of first-year head coach Rob Smith.

The Bobcats' fall practice schedule spanned from Sept. 1 till Oct. 13 and was held inside Bob Wren Stadium. Ohio took part in several inter squad scrimmages, including the first annual #Wrenfest.

On Friday, pitcher Tyler Backstrom, third baseman Dan Schmidt and first baseman Jake Madsen and Smith took some time to recap the Bobcats' fall ball practices from 2012.

This season the Bobcats return each of their top three hitters in the form of Madsen (.344), catcher Cody Gaertner (.338) and left fielder Tyler Wells (.315). Ohio also returns its top reliever in the form of Brett Barber, who finished the year with a team-best six saves and posted an earned run average of 2.75.
