2013 Ohio Baseball Schedule
ATHENS, Ohio - Six teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament and four conference champions from a year ago, highlight the 2013 Ohio University Baseball schedule which was announced today.
The Bobcats will open the 2013 season on Feb. 16 at Noon against defending Horizon League champion Valparaiso for the first game of a doubleheader in Nashville, Tenn. The second game of the doubleheader will place Ohio against defending Atlantic Sun champion Belmont.
Following Ohio's trip to Nashville, the Bobcats will head to Greenville, N.C. from Feb. 22-24 where they will faceoff against Illinois, Boston College and NCAA tournament qualifier New Mexico State. The Bobcats will then travel to Cary, N.C. from March 1-3 to take on a pair of Atlantic 10 squads in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Ohio will its three-day stretch in Cary, N.C. against Virginia Tech.
Ohio will open its 2013 home slate against Oakland at Bob Wren Stadium on Friday March 8. The Bobcats' home-opener against Oakland will mark the first of a 17-day stretch where they will play 11 home games. During that 17-day stretch, Ohio will make one road trip as it travels to Lexington, Ky., to faceoff against NCAA tournament qualifier Kentucky on March 12.
The Bobcats begin Mid-American Conference play on March 22 against Toledo. League opponents Akron, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green will all travel to Bob Wren Stadium this spring.
Ohio's first road series in Mid-American Conference play will come at Eastern Michigan on March 29. The following week, the Bobcats will head to Kent State to meet the Golden Flashes, which qualified for the 2012 College World Series.
