ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University Baseball head coach Rob Smith announced the addition of four student-athletes, who continue their academic and athletic endevors in the fall of 2014.
Newcomers Tony Giannini (Carmel, Ind.), Logan Jacik (Omaha, Neb.), Mason McWilliams (Bellevue, Ohio) and Ty Suntken (Wauseon, Ohio) have all signed national letters of intent to begin play for the Bobcats in the spring of 2015.

Prior to Ohio: Ranked as the No. 26 prospect in the state of Indiana by Prep Baseball Report... Selected to the Hamilton County Sports Daily - Honor Team... Named to Perfect Game's - Under 17 WWBA All-Tournament Team... Received All-County Team honors from The Time/Hare... Batted .333, drove in 25 RBI, smacked four home runs and hit eight doubles... Guided Carmel High School to an 18-11 mark this past season... Earned two varsity letters... Also plays on the football team.
Personal: Born Aug. 14, 1996... Son of Greg and Stacey Giannini... Has two older sisters (Brandy and Tayler)... His father Greg played football at the University of Montana (1984-88)... Coach Smith on Giannini: "As the signing period winded down we were still looking for a hitter and Tony definitely fit that need. I am very excited about the versatility he can bring as he is solid behind the plate, but athletic enough to play both third and first base. He will bring some grit to the team and a lot of good energy. I am excited about watching him develop as both a defender and a hitter."

Lists his favorite athlete as Robinson Cano and favorite team as the New York Yankees... Expected major is Aviation or Criminal Justice... Future career plans include military or law enforcement.
Coach Smith on Jacik: "Logan is a very projectable arm that has a very good up side. He has shown mid 80s velocity but has a very good feel for the ball as he can throw three pitches for strikes. His physical development will play a big part in his progress at this level. I am really excited to see him grow as a player in this program."

Coach Smith on McWilliams: "Mason is very confident player that we hope can come in here and make contributions early in his career. He is a power left hander that has flashed some impressive velocity at times touching upper 80s during the summer. He is very athletic as well and I am looking forward to working with him on the mound."

Volunteers at Trinity Lutheran Church... Lists his favorite athlete as Derek Jeter and favorite team as the New York Yankees... Is undecided on his major.
Coach Smith on Suntken: "Ty is a very competitive kid who will fit in well with our program. He is a versatile player who will be able to both pitch and hit for us. He has good arm strength with a fastball in the upper 80's touching 90 at times with a very good slider. I am extremely excited about adding Ty to the program."
