Currently in his first season as a graduate assistant with the Ohio University men's basketball program, Daniel Leeworthy has built a solid resume in his early years as a coach. Leeworthy was a volunteer assistant at Ohio in 2007-08, when the Bobcats turned in a 20-13 record and earned a berth in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. In the summer of 2008, he served as co-director for the program's summer camps. The Melbourne, Australia, native started his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, BYU-Hawaii, where he served as student coach and volunteer assistant from 2005-07. In 2006-07, he helped guide the Seasiders to a 20-8 record and a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Leeworthy also has coaching experience in youth basketball, having served as head coach of the Under 18s Waverley Falcons, the equivalent of high school basketball in the United States, in his native Australia. He also coached at various camps across the country, including the Boston Celtics' youth camps and clinics at both BYU and BYU-Hawaii. A former semi-professional basketball player in Australia, Leeworthy graduated from BYU-Hawaii with a degree in Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages with a minor in exercise and sports science, and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in coaching administration at Ohio. He and his wife, the former Lindsay Yamauchi, have one child, Jaron.
