Prior to Ohio
Offutt suited up in three of the first four Ohio State games during the 2009-10 season, scoring a career-high 11 points in the opener vs. Alcorn State. As a freshman he played in 21 games including all three Big Ten Tournament contests. The 6-3 guard played a career-high 16 minutes in the team's win at Iowa near the end of the regular season. Overall, Offutt played in 25 contests and averaged exactly five minutes per appearance. A three-year starter for Warren Central, Offutt totaled 824 career points, 295 rebounds, 240 assists and 136 steals. Offutt fell short in becoming the career leader in all four statistical categories after a season-ending injury kept him out of competition his senior season. He was named 2008 Associated Press All-Indiana High Honorable Mention and named All-Marion County and All-Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference for three-consecutive years. Offutt played in the same conference that produced NBA players Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr. (both Lawrence North) and Eric Gordon (North Central).
