ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's basketball team won its 19th straight non-conference home game on Saturday afternoon in the Convocation Center, defeating Delaware 78-59.

The Bobcats (5-2) and Blue Hens (2-5) traded baskets to start the game with Delaware taking its only lead with 12:53 left in the first half. But Ohio answered with a 16-3 run which put the Bobcats up for good, 32-22, with just more than four minutes remaining in the opening half.

Delaware cut Ohio's lead to seven points with 10:59 left in the second half but the Bobcats outscored the Blue Hens 23-11 to close out the contest.

In the first ever match-up between the two teams, Ohio's Bubba Walther (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 22 points on 7-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-4 from beyond the arc, to pace the `Cats in their third straight victory this season. Ohio improved its record to 9-1 against teams from the Colonial Athletic Association and Delaware's loss dropped their record against MAC foes to 2-10.

Leon Williams (Baltimore, Md.) came up one stat short of a double-double for the second-straight game. The senior forward had nine rebounds and 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. Justin Orr (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Jerome Tillman (Beavercreek, Ohio) also scored in double-figures for the Bobcats, with 10 and 17 points, respectively. It was the fourth game this season where four-different Ohio players scored 10 points or more.

The Bobcats controlled the lane - both in the scoring column and on the boards - in the contest. They outrebounded the Blue Hens 36-19 and registered a 28-12 advantage in points-in-the-paint. Ohio shot exactly 50 percent from the field (24-of-48) while Delaware converted 40 percent (19-of-47)of their shot attempts.

Herb Courtney led the Blue Hens with 13 points and Brian Johnson pulled in a team-high four rebounds.

Ohio will not be back at the Convocation Center for 34 days until MAC East Division rival Miami comes to town on Jan. 12. Ohio will play games against Maryland, Kansas, St. John's and Bucknell on the upcoming road trip before opening up league play at Bowling Green on Jan. 5.
