Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference has announced today that the upcoming men's basketball game between Ohio and Ball State has been selected for the conference's national January basketball television package on ESPNU.

Ohio Head Coach John Groce and the Bobcats will host Ball State Head Coach Billy Taylor and the Cardinals in a MAC cross divisional match-up on Saturday, January 28th at 11 a.m. ET.

Ohio is off to one of the best starts in school history with a 12-2 mark. Guard D.J. Cooper was recently named a Cousy Award finalist as he ranks 13th nationally in both assists (6.5) and steals (2.7) per game. He is also among the top 50 players nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.4. Backcourt teammate Nick Kellogg, an All-MAC Freshman Team selection last year, is shooting 49.3 percent from three-point land, ninth in the nation. The Bobcats are currently ranked No. 5 on College Insider's Mid-Major Top 25.

The Cardinals have posted an 8-4 mark in non-conference play, the best record in the MAC West Division, led by the top-rated defense in the league. Ball State owns the seventh best field goal percentage defense in NCAA Division I at 36.1 percent and the 15th best scoring defense at 56.9 points per game. The Cardinals are paced offensively by preseason All-MAC West selection Jarrod Jones who ranks second in the conference in both scoring (17.8) and rebounding (8.4).

Ohio opens up conference play this Saturday when the Bobcats travel to Bowling Green for an East Division battle at 6 p.m. (STO/ESPN3/ESPN GamePlan). Ball State opens MAC play this weekend as it hosts preseason MAC West Division favorite Western Michigan Saturday at 2 p.m.
