ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University point guard D.J. Cooper is featured on the Friday (Feb. 8) edition of ESPNU's UNite program. The show will air at midnight, 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., with Cooper's segment appearing at the :45 mark of each broadcast (12:45 a.m., 6:45 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 9:45 a.m.).
In the interview, Cooper talks about the 2012-13 Ohio men's basketball season, his high school career in Chicago and more.
Cooper is in the midst of a stellar senior campaign for the Bobcats. The 2013 Cousy Award Finalist is fourth in the country with 7.9 assists per game and leads Ohio in points (14.1), assists and steals (2.1). He has led Ohio in assists in 20 of 22 games and broke the single-game school record with 17 assists against Marshall on Jan. 5.
Cooper is Ohio's all-time leader in assists and steals and is the MAC all-time leader in assists. His 866 career assists ranks 19th on the all-time NCAA Division I assists list, and his 806 steals are 27th most in NCAA Division I history. He is on pace to become the only player in college basketball history to post 2,000 points, 900 assists, 500 rebounds and 300 steals in a career.
Cooper and the Bobcats (16-6, 7-1 MAC) return to action Saturday (Feb. 9) against Bowling Green. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein and Rob Cornelius will call the game live on the Ohio IMG Sports Network powered by Horizon.
