ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University men’s basketball team (16-6, 7-1 MAC) returns home for the first time in three weeks to take on Bowling Green State University (9-13, 4-5 MAC) Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. (EST). “Voice of the Bobcats” Russ Eisenstein and Rob Cornelius will call the action live on the Ohio IMG Sports Network powered by Horizon, with streaming audio and video available on OhioBobcats.com. Pre-game audio coverage begins 30 minutes prior to tip-off (1:30 p.m.).
Last time out, Ohio held its opponent to season lows in points (42) and field goal percentage (.265) in a 69-42 win at Ball State Wednesday (Feb. 6). Senior guard Walter Offutt led Ohio with 17 points and posted a season-high four steals, while junior T.J. Hall (Gainesville, Fla.) added 10 points in his first start of the season.
Ohio’s +27 margin of victory was its largest in a conference game since a 91-58 win over Toledo on Feb. 14, 2008.
The ‘Cats made 14 steals in the game and forced the Cardinals to commit 22 turnovers. Ohio is 10-1 this season when it posts at least 10 steals and 11-1 when its opponent yields 20 or more turnovers.
With the win at Ball State, Ohio finished its four-game road trip with a 3-1 record. It marked the first time Ohio has played four-straight MAC road games in program history. The ‘Cats went 21 days without playing a home game.
Ohio now returns home, where the Green and White are 34-2 (.944) in their last 36 games at the Convocation Center. With a win, Ohio will move to 8-1 in MAC contests for the first time since the 1984-85 season.
Scouting The Falcons (9-13, 4-5 MAC)
The Bobcats and Falcons will meet for the 134th time Wednesday. Bowling Green is Ohio’s second most common oppponent all time and is the only MAC school that Ohio does not have a winning record against. The Falcons hold a 71-62 edge in the all-time series and have won six of the last 10 matchups. Ohio has won three-straight meetings at the Convocation Center.
The teams first met during the 1921-22 season, with the Bobcats earning a 41-19 victory in Athens. Last season, Ohio won, 72-59, on Feb. 15 at home and fell, 67-57, at Bowling Green on Jan. 7.

Ohio Downs Bowling Green 72-59 to Win 20th Game
The Ohio University men's basketball team (20-6; 8-4 MAC) limited Bowling Green State University to just one field goal in the final six minutes of the game as it went on to a 72-59 victory over the Falcons Wednesday night at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats' victory was their 20th win on the year.
The Falcons have posted a 9-13 record this season and are 1-8 in road contests. Bowling Green is 4-5 in conference play and sits in third place in the MAC East Division. The Falcons have won two-straight and defeated Northern Illinois, 57-41, last time out on Wednesday. Senior A’uston Calhoun led the team with 15 points and 12 rebounds against the Huskies.
Calhoun leads Bowling Green on the season with 15.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game (third-best in MAC). Senior Jordon Crawford averages a team-high 15.2 ppg in conference play and leads the team with 4.3 assists per contest. Head coach Louis Orr has compiled an 85-95 record (.472) in six seasons with the Falcons.
Ohio hits the road for the fifth time in six games as the Bobcats play at Central Michigan on Wednesday (Feb. 13).
