ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Sports Administration Program and Ohio University Athletics will partner with the Ohio University Student Senate to host the third annual Green Fever game, presented by University Courtyard Apartments on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 7 p.m. ET in the Convocation Center. The Bobcats will play host to the Akron Zips and look to sweep the season series.
Green Fever is a marketing initiative to help "Green Out" the Convocation Center, increase awareness within the Ohio University and Athens communities, create future fans, and raise money for the Sports Administration Program. This is the third year Green Fever has raised awareness for Ohio Basketball.
Jim Schaus, Ohio's Director of Athletics is excited about the annual event. "The Sports Administration students do an excellent job of designing and marketing the Green Fever campaign. We look forward to the event each year," said Schaus.
For ONLY $10 fans may purchase a value package including a long-sleeve t-shirt and coupon book with over $200 in coupons to Athens area businesses. Some of these businesses include Miller's Chicken, DP Dough, Follett's Bookstore, Ambassador Dry Cleaning, and much, much more. Sales and marketing teams have been formulated and on-site selling began in the dining halls, student centers, and before games in the Convocation Center last week.
The campaign is yet another example of how the graduate Sports Administration Program and the Ohio University athletic department have joined to benefit each organization. The partnership has helped create fan-friendly football games, the growing Bobcat Blitz spring campaign, and several practical learning experiences for the Sports Administration students.
Jim Kahler, Executive Director of the Center for Sports Administration said, "Our relationship with Ohio Athletics continues to provide our students with practical experience that is second to none. We appreciate the opportunity to work with them to increase attendance for the Akron game and, at the same time, raise incremental funds for our program that directly benefit our students."
With the support of Russell Athletics and Hartwell Studio Works, the Green Fever t-shirts are exceptional and when coupled with the coupon booklets, they are a huge hit. After selling over 1,000 Green Fever packages last year, the Sports Administration Program is looking to raise the bar by selling over 1,300 this year.
Packages can be purchased by returning order forms to Grover E118 or E191, or online by visiting OhioBobcats.com/greenfever and connecting to our purchase site. Green Fever t-shirts should be worn on gameday and will serve as a voucher to pick-up coupon books. Tickets for the game can be purchased by contacting Brooks Neal with Ohio Athletics at 740-597-1374.
