KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Ohio junior guard D.J. Cooper was named to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 14 Second Team today.
Cooper, the MAC Tournament MVP and Cousy Award finalist, was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second year in a row last week. He became the first two-time MAC First Team selection from Ohio since Jerome Tillman ('07, '09) and consecutive first-team choice since Brandon Hunter did it three times ('01-03).
The Chicago native recently broke the Ohio career mark for assists. and is four steals away from setting Ohio's career steals mark as well. He has also cracked Ohio's top-10 scoring list and stands with 1,545 career points. During the MAC Tournament, Cooper averaged almost 20 points and seven assists per game.
Ohio recently earned its seond trip to the NCAA Tournament in three years. The 13th-seeded Bobcats will play No. 4 Michigan in the second round on Friday (March 16) at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Tipoff is slated for 7:20 p.m. EST and the game will be televised on TNT.
