ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Ohio's Walter Offutt was named to the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team. The junior guard scored a game and career-high 26 points in the Bobcats' contest against top-seeded North Carolina Friday night at the Edward Jones Dome.
Offutt (Indianapolis, Ind.) was one of three players that finished in double figures with 18 of his 26 coming from beyond the arc. His six 3-pointers were a career high on 10 attempts.
He averaged 16 points per game while shooting 69 percent from the field in NCAA Tournament victories over Michigan and South Florida. In the 2012 postseason, a six-game span, Offutt averaged 13.8 points while shooting 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Offutt was MAC Player of the Week after scoring a then-career high 23 points in a win at Buffalo. He finished among the top 10 in the MAC in steals and top 15 in scoring.
The Bobcats recently concluded their best season in school history with a school record 29 wins. The Bobcats went to a postseason tournament for the third year in a row for the first time in program history and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the bracket expanded to its current format.
