June 3, 2009
ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University head men's basketball coach John Groce will speak alongside some of the top minds in college basketball this weekend at the Nike Championship Clinic, to be held from Friday to Sunday at Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh. Renowned for his up-tempo, attacking style of offense, Groce will deliver a speech entitled "Transition Offense" at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 7. In their first year under Groce's high-powered offensive system, the Bobcats ranked atop the Mid-American Conference in assists per game (13.6) and three-point field goal percentage (36.3), marking the first time in program history that Ohio led the league in the latter category. Other speakers slated to appear at the clinic, which begins on Friday, June 5, include John Calipari (Kentucky), Brian Gregory (Dayton), Paul Hewitt (Georgia Tech), Bob McKillop (Davidson), Thad Matta (Ohio State), Herb Sendek (Arizona State) and Keno Davis (Providence).
