ATHENS, Ohio – Former Ohio University guard Nick Kellogg (Westerville, Ohio) has been selected to participate in pre-NBA Draft workouts with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers leading up to the annual event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 26.
Kellogg took part in a workout with the Cavaliers on June 12 and is scheduled to work out with the Pacers on June 23 in Indianapolis. The pre-draft workouts are just one part of a series of activities Kellogg has participated in to bolster his post-collegiate basketball career.
In April, the Westerville, Ohio, native took part in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational along with 63 of the nation’s top collegiate basketball seniors. Kellogg suited up Roger Brown’s Restaurant during the event, along with Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Jordair Jett (Saint Louis), A-10 First Team selection Chaz Williams (UMass), All-BIG EAST second teamer Fuquan Edwin (Seton Hall) and former Saul Phillips standout Taylor Braun (North Dakota State).
In his final year with the Green & White in 2013-14, Kellogg saved his best for last during an outstanding senior season in a Bobcat uniform. The Westerville, Ohio, native averaged career bests in points (15.5 ppg), rebounds (3.6 rpg), assists (2.9 apg) and field goal percentage (.462) this season while shooting 39.6 percent from 3-point territory.
In recognition of his efforts, Kellogg was named to the NABC District 14 First Team and received Second Team All-MAC honors. He also garnered MAC All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 20.7 points per game during the event.
This season, the senior led the MAC with a .887 free throw percentage, was third with 2.4 3-pointers made/game and fifth in scoring. He also was seventh in 3-point field goal percentage. In league play, Kellogg ranked t-8th in the conference in assists/game (3.2) and sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.7).
One of the top sharpshooters in Ohio University history, Kellogg is the MAC’s all-time 3-point king, with a league-best 290 3-pointers made over his four seasons in Athens. He ranks No. 13 all-time in scoring at Ohio with 1,449 career points and is second all-time in career 3-point percentage (.411).
Kellogg also ranks second in all-time games started (134) and is tied with Ivo Baltic, D.J. Cooper and Reggie Keely in games played for the Green & White (143). He is part of the all-time winningest class in Ohio history, as the Bobcats combined for 97 victories over his four seasons in Athens.
