MONTREAL -- Senior guard Stevie Taylor (Gahanna, Ohio) led the way with 22 points and six assists as the Ohio University men's basketball team tallied an 80-75 triumph over Queen's University on Wednesday (Aug. 13) at Jean De Brebeuf College.
The contest marked the first of three preseason games in Montreal for the Bobcats. "It was extremely fun to have the guys out there and communicate with them," said first-year head coach Saul Phillips. "We're battling through some injury issues, but it was nice to see us not use that as a crutch and get the job done. It was nice to see guys stepping up and making winning plays."
Freshman guard Ryan Taylor (Gary, Ind.) added 17 points and hauled in eight rebounds while redshirt junior forward Treg Setty (Maysville, Ky.) contributed 16 points and eight boards.
"I thought Stevie was really dynamic at the point," said Phillips. "He looked fresh, and he made good decisions. Our freshmen battled very hard, and Treg did as well."
Ohio returns to action Thursday (Aug. 14) in a contest at Laval University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
