Aug. 15, 2012

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Athletics will hold its third Coffee with the Coach this Friday, Aug. 17 at Union Street Cafe. Ohio Men's Basketball Head Coach Jim Christian will be the guest with the event, free to the public, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Christian is entering his first season with the Bobcats with an extensive amount of experience coaching within the Mid-American Conference. He served as the head coach at Kent State University from 2002-08 where he compiled a six-year record of 138-58 for the highest-winning percentage in league history.

Following his historic run at Kent State, Christian moved on to TCU where he would spend the next four years as head coach, leading the Horned Frogs to 56 wins during that stretch, including 18 this past season and an appearance in the College Basketball Invitational.

This year's Ohio Bobcat squad reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in the modern era and finished No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, its first final-season ranking ever. The Green and White also set the school record with 29 wins, including a 16-1 mark at home during the 2011-12 season.

The next Coffee with the Coach event will be held Thurs., Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. with Ohio Soccer's Stacy Strauss as the guest.
