Men's Basketball Schedule
ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University's men's basketball schedule was completed on Monday with the announcement of the Mid-American Conference schedule.
The Bobcats will open up the MAC season at home for the third time in the last four years when it hosts reigning MAC East Division and Tournament champion Kent State on Jan. 11 in the first of eight league games at the Convocation Center. Ohio will also entertain Akron (Jan. 20), Bowling Green (Jan. 24), Northern Illinois (Feb. 5), Eastern Michigan (Feb. 7), Toledo (Feb. 14), Miami (Feb. 26) and Buffalo (March 1) at The Convo during the 2008-09 campaign.
Ohio's matchup with Bowling Green on Jan. 24 falls on Dad's Weekend, while the Eastern Michigan contest on Feb. 7 will coincide with Sibs Weekend.
The Bobcats will kick off the road portion of their league slate with a visit to Miami on Jan. 14, and will wrap up their first MAC road trip with a Jan. 17 tilt at Buffalo. Central Michigan (Jan. 28), Ball State (Jan. 31), defending MAC West Division champion Western Michigan (Feb. 11), Kent State (Feb. 17), Akron (March 5) and Bowling Green (March 8) are also scheduled destinations for the Green & White this season.
The 2008-09 season is the third under the current 16-game MAC schedule. Ohio has compiled an 18-14 (.563) league record since the format took effect.
In August, Ohio released a challenging non-conference schedule that includes matchups with at least five postseason qualifiers from a year ago, including four NCAA Tournament teams. The Bobcats' home ledger is headlined by dates with Tulsa, Holy Cross and Bucknell, while Ohio will take trips to Louisville, Xavier and George Mason, among others.
The MAC Tournament will be contested from March 10-14 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
