ATHENS, Ohio - Senior guard Nick Kellogg and junior guard Javarez Willis were named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-MAC Teams released this past weekend.
Kellogg garnered third team accolades while Willis was named to the fourth team.
Kellogg enters his senior campaign as one of the top 3-point shooters in Ohio University history. The Westerville, Ohio, native ranks sixth all-time in 3-pointers made (203), seventh in 3-point attempts (506) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.401). He needs to make 72 3-pointers this season to become Ohio's all-time leader in that category. Kellogg also is ninth all-time in games started at Ohio.
This past season, Kellogg started 33-of-34 games and was fourth on the Bobcats with 8.0 points per contest. He ranked 13th in the MAC with 1.6 3-pointers made per contest and posted at least 10 points in 13 games (Ohio was 11-2 in those contests).
Willis will compete for the Bobcats this season after sitting out the 2012-13 campaign due to NCAA transfer guidelines. In two seasons at Texas Tech University, Willis became one of the most productive guards on the Red Raider roster.
During his sophomore season in Lubbock, the Homer, La., native started 30 of 31 games and finishing second on the team in assists (58). He also ranked fourth on the team with 8.1 points per game.
Ohio opens the 2013-14 season on November 2 with a 2 p.m. exhibition contest vs. Ashland in the Convocation Center.
