ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University senior guard Walter Offutt was named Co-Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week following his performance this past week. He shared the weekly honor with Kent State's Chris Evans.
Offutt (Indianapolis, Ind.) averaged 19.5 points per game in two contests this past week in leading the Bobcats to a perfect 2-0 record. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Offutt opened the week by scoring 23 points in a 75-67 win over Hampton Tuesday night at the Convocation Center. He also pulled down four rebounds, had three steals and dished out three assists in the 'Cats win over the Pirates. The Ohio guard closed the week by scoring a team-high 16 points in a 25-point blowout of Richmond Saturday afternoon at home.
Offutt is one of five Ohio players averaging double figures in scoring.
Ohio returns to action on Wednesday as it welcomes defending Atlantic 10 Conference Champions St. Bonaventure to the Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
