ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio University men’s basketball junior forward Maurice Ndour (Mbour, Senegal) has been named the MAC East Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It marks the second time in four weeks Ndour has garnered the weekly accolade this season.
Ndour averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shot 58 percent (11-19) from the field while leading Ohio to two home wins against teams ranked in the top-75 of the RPI this past week.
In Tuesday’s 76-67 win over Mercer, Ndour posted his first career double-double with 23 points and a game-high 11 rebounds against the Bears. The Mbour, Senegal, native made 7-of-12 field goal attempts, 2-of-3 3-pointers, 7-of-8 free throws and added a block in a strong all-around effort for Ohio.
Against Evansville on Saturday, Ndour chipped in eight points on 4-of-7 shooting and added six rebounds and an assist. On the defensive end, Ndour helped limit the hot shooting Aces to just 37.7 percent from the floor, well under their season average of 51.8 percent.
The victory clinched the Ohio Classic title for the Bobcats, who finished the event with a 4-0 record.
Ohio (6-1) returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 7) with a 6 p.m. matchup against Oakland in Rochester, Mich.
