ATHENS, Ohio - Theo Scott threw for a career-high 236 yards and three touchdowns, and Ohio's defense added a score itself as the Bobcats upended visiting Cal Poly 28-10 Saturday night at Peden Stadium. The win marks the `Cats' second-straight victory and their first-ever win over the Mustangs.

The Bobcats struck quickly with a 23-yard interception that was returned for a touchdown by senior linebacker Errik Ejike (Tyler, Texas) just under eight minutes into the game. The pick was Ohio's fifth on the season and the first interception and touchdown of Ejike's career.

After a 52-yard run by freshman Gary Fortune (Indian Head, Md.) at the end of the first quarter got the `Cats into the red zone, Scott (Long Beach, Calif.) threw a five-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver LaVon Brazill (Lantana, Fla.) to give Ohio a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. The toss was Scott's fourth touchdown pass of the season and Brazill's first scoring grab of the year.

The Mustangs got on the board with a 42-yard field goal by Chris Pinto to make the score 14-3 with 2:37 left in the first half.

In the opening possession of the second half, Ohio's Scott connected with Taylor Price (Hilliard, Ohio) for a 42-yard touchdown, giving the Bobcats a 21-3 lead. With that grab, Price tied for second in school history with 12 career touchdown receptions.

Redshirt freshman safety Gerald Moore (Mitchellville, Md.) opened the fourth quarter by picking off a Tony Smith pass and returning it 36 yards. For Moore, it was his second interception and Ohio's sixth pick of the season.

Scott added another touchdown on a 63-yard hook-up with Terrence McCrae (Vanderbilt, Pa.) to give Ohio a 28-3 advantage late in the contest. The score was McCrae's first of the year and Scott's third touchdown of the game.

Ohio's Melvin Payne (Mobile, Ala.) picked up the first blocked punt of his career when he penetrated the Cal Poly line and blocked Harlan Prather's attempt. It was the first blocked punt of Payne's career.

The Mustangs scored their only touchdown of the game on a Greg Francis 60-yard interception return off a Bobcat interception.

Scott finished 14-of-27 for 236 yards, while Price recorded nine catches for 135 yards and a touchdown. McCrae grabbed three passes for 93 yards, and Chris Garrett (Utica, N.Y.) rushed for 95 yards on 17 carries to lead the Green and White offense. Noah Keller (Kearney, Neb.) led the Bobcat defense with 16 total tackles, including eight solo and three for loss. Lee Renfro (Burnside, Ky.) added 11 tackles, and Neal Huynh (Altoona, Pa.) picked up seven.

Ohio will be back in action next Saturday when it heads to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on the Tennesse Volunteers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
