Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich
On the last two weeks of the season:
"Well, obviously, coming down the stretch, we hoped to be in better shape in terms of how we played. I do appreciate the effort that they have given. But the idea is that we need to get a lot of things done in order to get the program moving forward. The bottom line is we just didn't get the job done. We're just not where we need to be. We need to develop more depth in our program."
On the most disappointing things about the last two games:
"It would be the fact that we were not really able to establish much on either side of the ball. You know, it kind of snowballs on you. Offensively, we were not able to handle the pressure these last two ballgames, and that's disappointing because we've worked hard. In this game here, I think it would be the fact that we gave up 10 points in the first half of the game on special teams--a blocked punt and then the punt return."
On the makeover of this year's team:
"The one thing that I have been pleased with is that the attitude. There is nobody on this football team that has pointed a finger and blamed the other guy."
Sophomore Running Back Kalvin McRae
On his first-quarter touchdown run:
"Everyone did a good job and I was able to take advantage of it and put some points on the board."
On this season:
"We made progress as a program and are headed in the right direction. We have a great nucleus returning. We have a lot to look forward to for next year."
Junior Quarterback Austen Everson
On the loss:
"Tonight was not a telling sign of who we are or where we've been. We play for each other. When things are going rough, sometimes all you have are the guys next to you."
On the passing game struggles:
"We counted on hitting some big plays that we didn't connect on. It's frustrating for quarterbacks and receivers alike."
On next season:
"We have a luxury of knowing that we are going to have the same offense next year."
Senior Cornerback Dion Byrum
On this season:
"We've been down in a lot of ways, but I've never seen anyone totally give up. It's always frustrating to lose, but we've had our good times. That's when you can see that the program is going the right way. Now (that the season is over) I can cherish those moments."
On his senior season and Coach Solich:
"Coach Solich has done a lot for me behind the scenes that a lot of people may not know about. Come tomorrow, I'll probably take a visit to Coach Solich and thank him personally.
Senior Punter/Kicker Matthew Miller
On the season in comparison to previous seasons:
"This year we went into games knowing we were going to win; expecting to win. We've taken steps throughout the year and we are going to keep building on them."
Miami Head Coach Shane Montgomery
About the win:
"After last week's game, that wasn't us. I think it was good that we had another game to come back to, and I think it helped out that we had a short week. We didn't have a lot of time to think about the Bowling Green game. It was good to play a big rival. I think it is important to get another win for our seniors and put them out if we don't get a chance to go to a bowl game, on a winning note. It was important for our future of our program because we had a lot of young kids who stepped up and played well."
On how the game played out:
"I have a lot of respect for Frank Solich and what he has done down here. They have had some big wins and have played well at home. There were a lot of things that happened in the first half. We got the blocked punt that we scored a field goal on, and then we had the punt return for a touchdown. I think it takes a lot of your wind out of you when your scored on by different teams. I think the second half it got a little one-sided and they had to drop back and throw every time which is not their style of offense. They weren't able to do what they liked to do, so we were able to tee off and hit the quarterback a lot. Obviously, it made them one dimensional because they had to throw all the time."
On the Miami running game:
"Well it was important because Brandon Murphy got hurt last week and we weren't unsure if he was going to play tonight. He tried to go for warm-ups, but he felt like he couldn't play. Jimmy Murray is a great success story. The kid hung around for four years got a chance tonight and got over 100 yards and a lot of credit goes to the offensive line."
Quarterback Josh Betts
On this week's game compared to last week's:
"The conditions were a little different that what we had hoped for, so it was nice to get a chance to show that we're a lot better team than that."
On the possibility of a bowl game:
"I think we're definitely worthy. Last week wasn't us. We're a lot better team than that and hopefully we showed a little bit of that today."
Wide Receiver Ryne Robinson
On the win:
"We came in with the expectation that they were going to play hard too. We just wanted to play within ourselves, have a good game, finish it off for the seniors and hopefully get a shot at a bowl game."
