MOBILE,Ala. - For the first time since 1968, the Bobcat football team arrived at its bowl site, landing in Mobile on Tuesday for the 2007 GMAC Bowl.
The Bobcats left Athens at 7:45 a.m. and drove to Columbus for their flight to Alabama. The travel party was greeted at the airport by members of the local media, the GMAC Bowl committee and some old-fashioned southern belles.
Ohio spent the afternoon at the hotel in meetings. The slate of official activities begins at 6:30 p.m with a press conference where Head Coach Frank Solich will be given a key to the city. A welcome reception follows at 7 p.m.
The Bobcats are playing in their first bowl game since the 1968 Tangerine Bowl. Ohio will face Southern Miss on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live from Ladd-Peebles Stadium by ESPN.
