Bobcats Have Five Named to Academic All-MAC Team

ATHENS, Ohio-The Ohio football squad had five student-athletes named to the Mid-American Conference All-Academic team for the 2008 season.
Senior linebacker Michael Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio), tight end David Carter (Waynesboro, Pa.) and defensive tackle Jameson Hartke (Centerville, Ohio) were all recognized as members of the squad while linebacker Chris Hall (Louisville, Ky.) and redshirt junior tight end Adam Olsheski (Hilliard, Ohio) were selected as honorable mention members.
Brown, Carter and Hartke were all captains this season for the Bobcats.
Brown was named second-team Academic All-District by ESPN The Magazine earlier this season in addition to being a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy. He also registered 54 tackles in just eight games with four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks with one pass breakup and one fumble return for touchdown against VMI.
Carter caught 14 passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Hartke was named first-team Academic All-District by ESPN The Magazine for the third consecutive season and was named second-team All-MAC and first-team Midseason All-MAC by Phil Steele. The senior posted 52 tackles with eight tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Hall posted 49 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks. He also had two pass breakups and one forced fumble. Olsheski played in eight games for the Bobcats and started on the kickoff return unit. He also had one kickoff return for five yards against VMI. |
