ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio tight end Adam Olsheski and kicker Matt Weller were named to the Mid-American Conference’s All-Academic Team Tuesday morning.
Olsheski played in every game for the Bobcats as a reserve tight end and on many of the program's special teams. He also had one kick return for 12 yards against Buffalo.
Weller was a freshman All-American and first team All-MAC selection this season. He set the single-season school record with 21 field goals, a mark that was also the best among freshmen nationally.
Safeties Issa Braithwaite, Kevin Culver and tight end Jordan Thompson were all named to the honorable mention squad.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
