ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Football head coach Frank Solich announced Wednesday the addition of 19 newcomers, who join the squad next season. The class includes 15 incoming freshmen and four junior college transfers.
The 2012 class features student-athletes from 10 different positions. The also class includes student-athletes from eight different states, including seven from Ohio. In the last two years, the Bobcats have recruited 18 players from the state of Ohio.
The Bobcats begin spring practice on March 27th, while their spring game will be April 21st.
Prior to Ohio: Spent the 2011 season at Iowa Western Community College where he earned received First Team All-Conference honors and Honorable Mention All-America honors as a defensive lineman... Earned All-Area and All-Conference honors in high school... Three-time letterwinner in football... He was also a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and track... Currently enrolled at Ohio University.
Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Burrow on Branz: "Ty is a really good player, who will be able to compete for a spot on the defensive line. He will also be able to provide depth during spring ball. He is a great pass rusher, who competes with high energy."
Prior to Ohio: Exceptional size and quickness... Helped lead Colerain to the Second Round of OHSAA State Playoffs as a junior... Earned First Team All-League honors as a senior.
Offensive Line Coach Keven Lightner onClark: "Trae is a massive human being, who has great quickness. He is very phyiscal and he comes from a great program. I really look forward to working with him in the future. "
Prior to Ohio: Earned First Team All-State as a senior... Was nominated as the Georgia State Player of the Year by WSB-TV... Earned the Regional Player of the Year Award after he tallied a team-high 75 tackles and 10 tackles for loss... Three-time All-Region, two-time All-County and two-time All-State honoree... Also saw significant time at running back where he rushed for 1,200 career yards, including 500 yards as a senior... Helped his team to state playoff runs as a sophomore, junior and senior seasons... Three-time letterwinner... Experienced a significant amount of success in the classroom as he was named to the honor roll all four years in high school.
Wide Receiver Coach Dwayne Dixon on Davis: "Toran is a very smart young man, who played quarterback. He played in the Georgia All-Star game where he made a lot of plays. He's going to be a strong asset for our program."

Offensive Coordinator Tim Albin on Edmond: "Tim played running back in high school and is very athletic. He was highly recruited coming out of high school. Wide Receivers Coach Dwayne Dixon on Gibbons: "Nick picks things up very quick. He is very athletic and he had a lot other schools that were interested in him. He finishes his blocks well and we're excited to have him."

Defensive Line Coach Jesse Williams on Henry: "Davon is a great student-athlete, who excelled on both sides of the ball and he has unlimited potential."
Prior to Ohio: Helped his team to back-to-back OHSAA State Playoff appearances... During his senior season, he helped lead his team the state quarterfinals... Defensive Line Coach Jesse Williams on Laseak: "Kurt has a great motor and he loves to play the game. He has great length we expect him to be a great edge rusher."

Was named the Florida High School All-Star game Most Valuable Player... Concluded his high school career with 59 receptions, 1,176 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Offensive Line Coach Keven Lightner on Murray: "When we were recruiting him he reminded us a lot of LaVon Brazill. He is a very explosive player and he has tremendous ability to make plays after the catch. He had lot of BCS offers and we're happy to have him."

Offensive Line Coach Keven Lightner on Patterson: "Daz'mond is another big-play guy. He is very difficult to tackle in the open field. He is a great kick and punt return man. He is a high character guy, who graduated early to come to school. He has great vision and he does a great job of setting up his blocks which turn into big plays."
Prior to Ohio: Played offense, defense and special teams, earning time at wide receiver, cornerback and kick returner... Earned Second Team All-County during his senior season... Surpassed 500 yards receiving... Earned Blue Chip Player of the Week twice during the 2011 season... Also starred on the basketball team as he two varsity letters.
Offensive Coordinator Tim Albin on Reid: "Very athletic receiver and we think his best ball is ahead of him. He has great hands. He'll be able to stretch the field vertically for us which will give us some additional big play potential."

Tight Ends Coach Brian Haines on Roberts: "Mike is a good kid that we have been recruiting for a while. He has great size and he is someone that can really help open our playbook."

Selected to the MSG All-Metro Team Secondary Watch List... Took second at the 2012 United States Indoor meet in the 55-meter dash.
Defensive Back Coach Fred Reed on Rodriguez: "Malik is someone we identified at summer camp where he did an excellent job of competing. He will add some size and will be great in the redzone. He is a very versatile athlete."
Prior to Ohio: Posted an impressive senior season where he was named All-State, All-Conference, All-Area and All-District... Helped his team to the state quarterfinals and a No. 4 final ranking of No. 4 in Class B Football... Played both linebacker and running back... As a senior he rushed for 1,302 yards (7.9 yards per carry) and 18 touchdowns... On the defensive side of the ball, he led the team with 81 tackles... Finished his career with 31 rushing touchdowns and 206 tackles... Strong student in the classroom as he was a two-time All-State and All-Conference Academic honoree.
