Ohio Football Releases 2014 Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio - Three regular season games on the ESPN Family of Networks, six home games and a visit to the University of Kentucky highlight the Ohio University football team's 2014 schedule, which was released this afternoon by the Mid-American Conference.

For the first time since the 2001 season, Ohio will open the year with a league matchup as it heads to Kent State on Aug. 30. The Bobcats' matchup with KSU will mark the first time since 2008 that Ohio has played a game in the month of August.

Following its matchup with Kent State, the Bobcats will travel to Kentucky on Sept. 6 where they will face off against the Wildcats for the first time since the 2004 season. Ohio defeated Kentucky 28-16 during in its last visit to Lexington.

The Bobcats' annual Battle For The Bell matchup with Marshall will take place in Huntington, W. Va. on Sept. 13. The Herd finished the 2013 campaign by winning six of their last seven games, including a victory in the 2013 Military Bowl over Maryland.

Ohio will open its 2014 home slate on Sept. 20 against Idaho. The Bobcats will face the Vandals for just the third time in school history and for the first time since 1976. Ohio's matchup with Idaho will mark the beginning of a five-game stretch where it will play four games inside the friendly confines of Peden Stadium. The Bobcats also will play Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green and Akron during that stretch. Since 2009, Ohio owns a 24-7 record at home.

Ohio will close out the month of October as it heads to Western Michigan for its first meeting with the Broncos since 2008.

In November, Ohio will welcome Buffalo and Northern Illinois to Peden Stadium. Both contests will appear on the ESPN family of Networks and both are set to kick off at 7 p.m. Ohio's meeting with NIU will mark the first matchup between the two teams since the 2011 MAC Championship in Detroit.

The Bobcats close out the year with a trip to Miami in a game that will air on ESPN2/ESPN3 at 7 p.m.
