ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio football program wrapped up its first week of spring camp Saturday heading outside for the first time during spring workouts to practice at Peden Stadium.
The Bobcats also put on the pads for the first time during spring workouts on Saturday.
The first week of fall practice saw freshman wide receiver Willie Cherry (Wichita Falls, Texas) make a spectacular catch which gained national attention on social media and broadcast sports, appearing on Top Plays on ESPN Sports Center.
Cherry, an early enrollee at Ohio, played quarterback and wide receiver at Rider High School including serving as captain and earning MVP honors as a senior.
Connecting with Cherry early in spring practice has been sophomore quarterback Nathan Rourke (Ontario, Canada), who transferred to Ohio at the beginning of the spring semester from Fort Scott Community College.
In one year at Fort Scott Rourke played in all 11 games leading the Greyhounds to a 4-7 record threw for 2,367 yards and 18 touchdowns, rushed for three touchdowns and was named First Team All-KJCCC.
