ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University football team conducted its seventh spring practice Monday (March 24) morning inside Walter Fieldhouse.
First-year Director of Operations and former standout offensive lineman Chris Rodgers caught up with OhioBobcats.com to chat about his new role with the program, his days as a student-athlete at Ohio and what makes Athens a special place.
Rodgers was elevated to the role of Director of Football Operations in February 2014. The 2014 campaign will mark his second season on the Ohio Football staff. Rodgers spent the 2013 season serving as an Operations Assistant with the team.
In his current role, Rodgers monitors the program's budget, plans and organizes team travel, collaborates with NFL scouts, facilitates the Ohio Football Alumni Golf Outing and directs the high school youth camps.
Rodgers is no stranger to the Ohio football program. He spent five seasons with the team from 2005-09. During his career at Ohio, Rodgers played in two bowl games. He began his career as a tight end before moving to the offensive line. As a senior in 2009, Rodgers started in all of the Bobcats' 14 games, including Ohio's trip to Mid-American Conference Championship game and the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit, Mich.
All spring practices are open to the general public and fans are encouraged to attend. The spring schedule will conclude on April 12 as Ohio plays host to the annual Green and White Game, which will begin at 2 p.m. inside Peden Stadium.
