ATHENS, Ohio - Following one of the most successful seasons in school history, the Ohio University football team will return to the gridiron on Tuesday at 3:25 p.m. for the start of spring practice.
The Bobcats will take part in 12 practices and two scrimmages in preparation for the upcoming 2012 season. Spring practice will conclude on April 21 with the annual Green and White game at Peden Stadium with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
Under the direction of head coach Frank Solich, who will begin his eighth season in Athens this upcoming fall, Ohio returns six starters on offensive and nine on defense.
Quarterback Tyler Tettleton (Norman, Okla.) highlights the list of returnees on offense after he finished the 2011 campaign with a single season school record 28 touchdowns and 3,302 yards en route to earning All-MAC Third Team honors.
Defensively, All-MAC Second Teamer Tremayne Scott (Ocala, Fla.) returns after he posted a breakout season where he finished the year with 62 tackles and eight tackles for loss.
Ohio is coming off a 2011 season where it posted 10 wins for the first time since 1968 and won its first bowl game, defeating Utah State 24-23 in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
The Bobcats also set 47 school records during the 2011 season and won their 46th game since the start of 2006 season, which is the most of any team in the Mid-American Conference during that period.
