On the overall importance of spring practice:

This is the time to establish yourself on the depth chart. We take hard looks at every player at every position.

On the depth at quarterback heading into the spring:

It’s a lot better for us because they’re experienced and they know what they’re doing out here. It’s just a matter of executing. It’s not a deal where we’re starting from ground zero.

On the development of the tight end position during spring practice:

We’ve got a good combination of players to look at there. That’s a position that we’re going to evaluate very hard. We’ve got talent there, and we’re looking for guys who can do a little bit of everything. We’ve got blocking tight ends, guys that can run shorter routes and some guys that are able to get some things for us down the field.

On evaluating several talented running backs over the course of the spring:

We’re just getting all the guys a lot of reps. We’ve got some proven guys back there, and the key will be getting them a lot of reps this spring.

On senior quarterback Theo Scott:

He’s 100 percent right now. His collarbone has healed, and he’s throwing and moving well. He put some good weight on over the course of the offseason, and I think he’s ready to go.
