Athens, Ohio -
Kicker Matt Weller
On his spring practice so far:
"There are certain parts of my form that I wasn't really happy with and now I'm trying to get in form for the season. I'm working on things now, in particular, my arm swing, to try and keep getting better for next year."
On the special teams unit as a whole:
"I think we can be good. There are definitely some kicks from last year that I'd like back. We have a lot of guys coming back to the unit to work with including our long-snapper. So we are just trying to pick up from where we left off."
Defensive Lineman Dak Notestine
On the defensive line being a team strength:
"Throughout the whole winter we talked about the fact that we have to be leaders. I think we stepped up and this spring we're going to show the leadership role we're going to have take going into the season. I think we're ready and we're raring to go and we have the depth. We are ready to play and we enjoy the competition out here every day."
On everyone's emotions toward spring practice:
"There's definitely a hunger to be out here. I know people were excited to be out here on the first day. After the hard work we put in, people get to show off what they have. I think the competition level will only increase once players put on the pads and start hitting."
On returning some players from injury:
"It's definitely a positive since we get some guys coming back and playing for us. The younger guys can look to them as role models and, like I said, it helps with the competition also and makes everyone better."
