ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Athletics will hold an equipment surplus sale in conjunction with the Bobcat football team’s spring game on Saturday, May 3, announced director of equipment Wayne Horsley today. The sale will begin at 10:30 a.m. inside Gate 1 of Peden Stadium and will run until the conclusion of the game, which will begin at noon.
“ We have a very large selection of basketball shoes, assorted running shoes, football and baseball cleats, old jerseys, warm-ups, golf shirts and bags,” said Horsley. “Everything will be essentially at yard-sale type prices. Jerseys will be anywhere from $5-$20, brand new basketball shoes will be $25 and other shoes will be $10-$15.”
According to Horsley, who held the first such sale two years ago, cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted at the surplus sale.
“By state law, we have to sell the items,” explained Horsley. “It’s also against NCAA regulations to give them to student-athletes because that would be considered an extra benefit. So we try to sell the surplus we have to essentially get rid of it and provide an opportunity for fans and supporters to have Bobcat paraphernalia.”
