April 28, 2017

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Bobcat defensive end Tarell Basham (Rocky Mount, Va.) was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts as the No. 80 overall pick in the 2017 National Football League Draft Friday. Basham was the 16th pick of the third round and the third Mid-American Conference player drafted.

Basham was a First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection and named MAC Defensive Player of the Year this past season.

He set single-season (11.5) and career sack (29.5) records for the Bobcats last season and started every game. He finished the season 50 tackles and 16.0 tackles for loss last season. Basham anchored the fifth-best rushing defense in the country last season.

Basham was invited to compete at the 2017 Reese Senior Bowl and was a 2017 NFL Combine participant.
