ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University football seniors Matt Weller and Travis Carrie were both named to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards - Special Teams Watch List on Monday.

Weller was among 30 players nationally, who were named to the Watch List for the 2012 CFPA Specialist Trophy, while Carrie was among 30 individuals across the country who were are on the Watch List for the 2012 CFPA Punt Returner Trophy.

Weller enters his final season in Athens following a decorated junior campaign in which he was named the Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Year. He also took home All-MAC Second Team, Phil Steele All-MAC First Team and CollegeSportsMadness.com All-MAC First Team honors. Off the field, Weller was recognized for his work in the classroom as he was selected to the Academic All-MAC Team.

In addition, Weller set six single season records and five career records while earning the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week five times throughout the 2011 season.

Carrie averaged a team-best 12.5 yards per punt return and had the Bobcats' only punt return for a touchdown during his junior campaign. The California native returned the punt for a touchdown during Ohio's season-opener at New Mexico State and would earn MAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors the following week.

Carrie also starred for the Bobcats on defense as he led the team with four interceptions and was named All-MAC Second Team, Phil Steele All-MAC Second Team and CollegeSportsMadness.com All-MAC First Team honors.

Ohio opens the 2012 campaign at Penn State in front of a nationally-televised audience on ESPN. The game time for the Bobcats' regular-season finale against Kent State, which will air on ESPNU/ESPN3, will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
