ATHENS, Ohio - Cornerback Travis Carrie, safety Gerald Moore, quarterback Tyler Tettleton and tight end Jordan Thompson have been named captains for the 2012 Ohio University football team.

The four Bobcats were selected in a vote conducted by their teammates. All four players have been named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-MAC Team.

"All four of these individuals are tremendous players, but most of all they are outstanding people, who represent the cornerstones of what our program is all about," said head coach Frank Solich. "I think our players made a great decision in selecting these four student-athletes to lead our football team this season."

Carrie (Antioch, Calif.) was selected captain after he led the team in interceptions (four) and pass breakups (13) en route to earning All-MAC Second Team, Phil Steele All-MAC Second Team and CollegeSportsMadness.com All-MAC First Team honors. He also serves on special teams and earlier this week, Carrie was named to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards - Special Teams Watch List.

Moore (Mitchellville, Md.) received the captain's nod after he finished second on the team in tackles in 2011 with 84 stops. He also picked off a pair of passes and tallied 5.0 tackles for loss.

Tettleton (Norman, Okla.) earned a captain's spot after he authored one of the finest seasons in school history by an Ohio quarterback. In 2011, Tettleton set 12 single season records, while in the process he became the first quarterback in school history to throw for over 3,000 yards. Following the year, Tettleton earned All-MAC Third Team, Phil Steele All-MAC Third Team and CollegeSportsMadness.com All-MAC Third Team honors.

Thompson (Rockford, Ohio) was named captain for the second straight season. In 2011, the Ohio tight end was the only junior captain. He also hauled in 24 receptions for a career-high 258 yards receiving. Off the field, Thompson holds a 3.4 grade point average in the classroom and was named Academic All-MAC honorable mention.
