ATHENS, Ohio- With the start of NFL training camps underway across the country, one thing is very clear - Ohio Football has a major presence at the professional level as 10 former Bobcats are listed on NFL rosters.
Whether it's been through the NFL Draft or free agent signings, Ohio players have found their way to the league.
Since 1936, Ohio Football has had 32 players selected in the NFL Draft, however six of those have been selected in the Frank SolichEra. No current Mid-American Conference institution has had more players drafted over the past seven years.
After former Bobcat cornerback Travis Carriewas selected in the seventh round by the Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL Draft, Ohio had now seen six of its players drafted in the last seven years.
Among the six players drafted during the Solich era, five still remain in the league and figure to make a significant impact with their respective teams this upcoming season.
Former Bobcats Julian Posey, Phil Bates, Jordan Thompson and Donte Fosterdid not hear their names called on Draft Day, but have remained focused on obtaining their NFL Dreams as all four currently hold NFL roster spots thanks to signing free agent contracts.
