ATHENS, Ohio - As the Ohio University Football team reported to preseason camp this past Sunday, the squad was greeted to the look of a newly renovated locker room thanks to the support of former players and current alumni.
Over 200 individuals donated to the locker room project to provide the Bobcats with a state-of-the-art facility, which features new carpet, wall graphics, media center and an enhanced lounge area for players to gather in-between practice.
The team also increased its locker count from 105 to 120 to affectively accommodate the entire squad.
Among the 200-plus contributors to this year's project, 112 of those individuals are former players, who sponsored their locker. The 112 former players ranged from individuals from the 1949 to the 2012 class.
In addition, three former mangers sponsored a specific managers locker and four donors gave in honor of a former Assistant football coach, who will be honored on a separate locker. The final contribution came from four donors, who gave in honor of a former head coach, who will have a honorary locker.
The new lockers feature a black wooden finish, providing a new and improved look to the space. The lockers also come fully equipped with a shoulder pad storage area, two shoe racks in the bottom footlocker and a digital combination lock.
