2009 Fall Camp-Day 4

Aug. 13, 2009

Redshirt freshman running back Jerry Kelly

On his decision to transfer to Ohio from Boston College:

“Boston College is a great program, but I felt like I should be a little bit closer to home. I wanted to be here for my family, and also be closer to home so they could see me play. (Boston College) is a great program, but I felt like Ohio was the place for me to be.”

On his focus while he sits out his year in residency:

“I’m just going to take my time. I’m new to the Ohio program, so I just want to learn all my plays and the entire offense. I feel like I can hone my skills during this year and come out next year as a better back for the Ohio football team.”

On his bigger physique as a running back:

“I’m a little bugger than the other running backs on the team. I’m just looking to see where I fit into the program. If I need to go into the game in short-yardage situations, I feel that I need to be prepared for that. With a bigger back in the program, I feel like we can expand our offense.”

On his familiarity with Ohio University before he was recruited:

“I have family in Ohio, so I’ve been to the area. I wasn’t familiar with Athens as a whole, but I like it so far.”
