Bobcats Alter Practice Schedule, Scrimmage Moved to Monday

Athens, Ohio - Ohio will conduct normal two-a-day practices Saturday instead of holding the second scrimmage of the fall, head coach Brian Knorr announced following Friday morning's drills. The Bobcats also moved back their Friday afternoon workout to 7 p.m. so that it could be held on the Astroturf surface at Pruitt Field.

The Bobcats spent two hours this morning in full pads, concentrating on offensive and defensive drills. The latter session focused on special teams as Ohio begins to work more toward the Akron game on Aug. 30.

With eight returning starters and 20 returning lettermen, the defense has seen little changes in the preseason depth chart. The entire two-deep stands from the end of spring practice. One of the early concerns, replacing Matt Spitler at inside linebacker, has not panned out, according to Knorr. "I have been pleased with both Shawn Murphy and Rich Constantine in practice. Replacing Matt will be tough, but they are both working hard and I don't think we will see much of a drop."

Saturday's Tentative Practice Times: 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon and 3:15 - 5:15 p.m. (sites to be determined)
Season Opener: Aug. 30 at Akron
