ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University football team participated in its second scrimmage Saturday morning inside Peden Stadium. Following the scrimmage, Ohio head coach Frank Solich, quarterback Tyler Tettleton and wide receiver Chase Cochran stopped by to talk with reporters.
The Bobcat defensive unit shined as it sacked Ohio quarterbacks six times and redshirt sophomore Nathan Carpenter registered one interception. Redshirt sophomore Kendric Smith collected a pair of sacks. In two scrimmages during preseason camp, Smith has totaled three sacks.
Freshman quarterback JD Sprague led the way offensively as he went 6-of-8 for 72 yards. Redshirt freshman Derrius Vick threw the only touchdown pass of the scrimmage as he hit redshirt senior Ryan Clark in the back of the endzone for a two-yard pitch and catch.
Starting quarterback Tyler Tettleton received limited reps, but showed flashes from his record-setting season in 2011 as he hit redshirt sophomore wide receiver Chase Cochran for a 46-yard pass.
Ohio returns to the practice field on Monday at 8 a.m. for its fourth two-a-day session of fall camp.
