ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University football team (1-0) welcomes Gardner-Webb (1-0) to Peden Stadium Saturday night at 7 p.m. for its 2011 home-opener. The Bobcats have won six of their last 10 home openers.
Saturday's home-opener will also be the first of four night games at Peden Stadium this fall.
Ohio enters the game following a 44-24 victory over New Mexico State on the road. With a victory, Ohio would improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2007 and hand head coach Frank Solich his 100th career victory.
The Bobcats feature the Mid-American Conference's top rushing defense (6.0 yards per game) and third-best scoring attack (44.0 points per game).
Ohio and Gardner-Webb will meet for the second time on Saturday. The first and last meeting between the two teams came back on Sept. 1 2007. In that game, the Bobcats opened their 2007 campaign with a 36-14 victory at home over the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb enters Saturday's game against Ohio in the hopes of improving to 2-0 on the year. The Runnin' Bulldogs opened the year with a convincing 34-17 triumph over Brevard. Running back Kenny Little ran for a career-high 131 yards and three touchdowns and Juanne Blount added 102 yards on the ground as Gardner-Webb piled up 437 yard to secure the win.
Saturday night's game can be heard live on the Citzens Bank Ohio IMG Sports Network with "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein and Rob Cornelius calling all of the action. Airtime begins at 6 p.m. ET.
