Oct. 7, 2013

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio football redshirt junior safety Thad Ingol was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 following his performance in the Bobcats' league opener against Akron.

Ingol helped anchor a defensive unit that limited Akron to just 157 yards of total offense this past Saturday as the Bobcats posted a 43-3 win over the Zips.

Ingol tallied his first interception of the year, which he returned 34 yards that helped set up a six play scoring drive and gave Ohio a 20-point lead. Ingol struck again as he recovered his first career fumble and returned it 18-yards for a touchdown.

He is the third Ohio player to be honored by the league office this season.

Ohio returns to action this Saturday for its annual Homecoming game as it plays host to Central Michigan. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Peden Stadium and can been seen on Time Warner Cable/ESPN3. Fans can also listen to the game on the Ohio IMG Sports Radio Network.
