ATHENS, Ohio – Junior quarterback Tyler Tettleton of Ohio Football is in the running for the 2012 installment of the prestigious Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award. Bobcat Nation can play an important role in this process by voting for its favorite quarterback once each day.
Ohio fans are encouraged to visit http://www.voteobrien.org/ and register to vote. The registration process takes a matter of seconds and fans are able to cast their votes once every day. Voting for the first round will close at 1 p.m. (EST) on Oct. 21. Sixteen semifinalists will then be announced on Oct. 22 and the next voting cycle will reset and run until Nov. 18.
Quarterbacks will progress through the ballot via a combination of the Fan Vote and the decisions made by the Selection Committee.
Currently ranking 17th of the 103 candidates receiving at least one vote, Tettleton has had a very strong first half of the 2012 season. The Norman, Okla., native has completed 95 of his 152 attempts for 1,193 yards and 10 touchdowns. In the win over Buffalo on Saturday, Tettleton tied for the top spot in program history with his 38th career touchdown pass.
The Bobcats will next be in action on Saturday afternoon against the Zips. Ohio and Akron will kick off from Peden Stadium at 2 p.m. The game will serve as a part of Ohio University’s 2012 Homecoming Weekend.
